Patient Education: Reassurance about the likelihood of recovery. Encourage return to work, instruct that he does not have to be totally pain-free.
Activity Modification: Review details of exercise to determine if quotas are realistic, check upon the adequacy of physiotherapy (if ordered). Review plans for work modification.
Medication: Acetaminophen 1,000 mg., four times a day (check adherence). Add ibuprofen.
Return visit: Approximately two weeks, sooner if needed.
