May not be an appropriate management strategy for Glen.

He has four pink flags: occupation, absence from work, heavy work and sciatica.

Counselling should be designed to reduce his anxiety, to teach him ways he can participate in his care (e.g., exercise, work modification, stress management), and to help him to understand the importance of this participation. He should be encouraged to resume his usual activities as soon as possible.
