If the patient is failing to reach his or her activity goals, a review should be made of the patient's complaints and steps taken to date. The patient should be helped to explore other options (taking into account the age, health, aptitudes and educational level). A referral for further evaluation of specific problems limiting the patient's progress may be indicated.
