If there is a delay in recovery, reevaluation is recommended. This begins with a review and update of the history and physical examination to look again for red flags or evidence of non-spinal conditions causing back symptoms.
If none of these is found, an appropriate evaluation can be initiated for either patients with sciatica or those with nonspecific low back symptoms
